about pen yr enfys
We are a charitable organization which supports individuals who have, or may be, developing alcohol or substance use problems. We provide accommodation, advice, support, therapeutic and treatment services, encouraging people to make positive changes to their lives.
We try and understand why alcohol or substance use is happening and encourage and support people to live healthier life styles where alcohol and drugs no longer feature. We believe people have the ability to change. Our trained and dedicated staff team support people to make those positive changes to their lives. We have been doing this for decades.
Central to our approach is the belief that:
- People use alcohol or other substances for a variety of reasons, whether it be social, emotional, psychological or physically useful.
- Problems occur when alcohol or substances are relied upon to perform everyday functions. This can be problematic and has the potential to damage a person’s health.
- Heavy drinking and substance use is a learned behaviour. People are responsible for their actions and this behaviour can be changed.
- When people stop or alter their behaviour, it leaves a void in their lives and the need to learn to do things that fill this void.
- Skills can be developed and learnt.
Our employee assistance schemes can help your business save money by reducing absence levels caused by sickness and accidents. We also deliver tailor made training courses to the business community, designed to help managers recognize, deal efficiently and support employees who may be experiencing problematic alcohol or drug use.
