Services and Projects
We currently work in a number of service areas, broken down in to two groups, Residential Services and Way Beyond Blue Advice, Therapeutic and Lifeskills Services, which are supported by our Central Services Department. Each service is lead by a senior manager who is responsible for overseeing the work of the projects attached to the service.

Way Beyond Blue Support and Advice Services

The entrance to the Fitzhamon Centre
Here we offer a service to anyone whose life has been adversely affected by alcohol, anyone who needs to spend time in an alcohol free environment or anyone who is concerned about another's drinking behaviour |

A small team of dedicated staff offer a personal and confidential service to any individual requiring assistance with problem alcohol use. We are proud of the rapid response time we have to peoples enquiries and of the fact that there is usually little waiting time before someone can be seen for counselling.

Pathways to Change
This is an innovative, therapeutic day programme that is individually tailored to assist people in overcoming problems with alcohol and who want to make positive changes to their lifestyle.
Every service user on Pathways has a personalised development plan that involves mapping out their process and experience on the path to change. It will range from one to one activities, such as exploring thoughts and feelings about future goals and values, through to group work, looking at management of change and relapse prevention.
To gain access to the programme anyone can contact the Pathways team directly, or any member of Pen yr Enfys staff, or the Social Services in the area you live. Successful applicants need to be funded by social services or be able to raise the funds independently.
Pathways to Lifeskills
The purpose of the Life Skills programme is to help people to gain the skills that will help them maintain a successful tenancy. There are a number of practical groups and individual sessions including:,

Way Beyond Blue Counselling services
Our counselling service is a team of qualified counsellors and a team of trainees working towards their diploma. The team draws upon a range of counselling interventions including cognitive behavioural therapy, person centred counselling and image counselling.
It is our policy to continue to work with service users who lapse and this would include debriefing on the lapse and exploring coping skills to manage triggers to drinking.

Access to the counselling service is gained by contacting the Fitzhamon Centre, Vale of Glamorgan Advice Centre or by using our Pathways or Residential Services

Dyfrig House

Recently refurbished throughout. Dyfrig House offers a high standard of accommodation
|
Dyfrig House is a Direct Access, alcohol free hostel offering accommodation to 21 people who are homeless and wishing to deal with their problem alcohol use. Staff are on duty “around the clock”. On arrival service users are allocated a Resettlement Worker to help them identify and realize their personal goals, via a resettlement Plan. The process of change is then explored and achieved partly through involvement with our varied life skills programme, Way Beyond Blue. Service users are also assessed to see if they would benefit from any of our separately funded counselling or therapeutic programmes. In addition to your own room Dyfrig house offers five self catering kitchens and two communal lounges, one no smoking.

Research has identified the high level of problem alcohol use that is connected with offending behaviour, consequently Cardiff City Council are funding this project which is aimed at dealing with this link. The Drink Link project is an intervention service offering community based support to individuals who have a high risk of re-offending due to problem alcohol use.
Attempting to overcome problem alcohol use without supports a difficult task. The project’s aim is to work in partnership with people being released and who would be homeless to assist them in accessing accommodation and treatment/support services.
The aim is to link into community based resources and service providers to ensure that support is available and that other services are appropriately accessed. The interventions used are flexible, effective and adaptable to the needs of clients. Assessments commence before release hence allowing for an agreed support package in preparation for release.
